Welcome to our News Page. This is the spot for information on upcoming classes in weaving, spinning and knitting given right here at Shepherdwoods Farm. Also this page will have tidbits of news items about sheep and shepherding. So please check back often.
If anyone is interested in taking a class in Spinning or Weaving just email me. No formal classes are set up at this time. But we can do individual or group for 6 of any age or experience and set it up according to your schedule.
Our next event is Michigan Fiber Festival, Allegan, MI in August. This year we will have a larger booth and be able to offer more items. Two new items will be the Louet Victoria Spinning Wheel and the Schacht Ladybug Spinning Wheel. There will be chairs available for anyone to sit and try out these wheels.
We have recently started having lambs here at the farm. The twins in the picture are Moorit Shetlands. Their father is Flett Manson, owned by Kathy Baker in Alberta, Canada. We AI-ed the ewes to get these special lambs. Some of these lambs will be for sale later this Summer. Please refer to our Animal Sale Page if interested.
A new event this summer will be our booth at the Ottawa, IL Old Town Farmers Market each Saturday from 8AM to 12:30PM. This is a great little market where you can get products that the vendors actually grow or produce on their farms. Fresh vegetables, mellons, baked breads and sweet treats, homemade dog biscuts, or hot sauce. As well as plants and flowers. Shepherdwoods Farm will be offering wool fleeces, wool roving for handspinners and crafters, wool yarn, handmade items and homemade soap. Dates are every Saturday beginning May 17th running thru the month of October.
